The Center of Humanistic Studies of the University of Minho (CEHUM) was founded in 1994 through the restructuring of the previous Center of Portuguese Studies (CEP), originated in the 1980s and meanwhile adapted to a new context. The CEHUM, whose scope is primarily interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary, integrates research carried out in the Institute of Arts and Humanities in the fields of Literature, Sciences of Language, Philosophy and Culture and is now one of the largest Centers of the University of Minho, with more than a hundred researchers in very diversified scientific domains, from Literary Theory and Comparative Studies, to Literary and Linguistic Studies and Philosophy. Focused on the development and on the dissemination of the research, the Center has been implementing new projects and international networks and creating new research groups, including young researchers and post-doctorate researchers among its members.
The CEHUM has a library specialized in Human Sciences, accessible to students and teachers, and publishes annually a specialized review, in three series - Diacrítica -, open to internal and external collaboration. This publication, with a peer review model, was recently added to the SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online database, and is released internationally through an extensive network of exchanges.
