 Doctoral program in Comparative Modernities

The evolution of Literary Studies in the last decades has been marked by the crossing of national borders and by the study of literatures integrated in an international, transdisciplinary and transcultural approach, which had led to an important development of Comparative Studies. Comparative Literature has emerged from the second half of the 20th century as the space par excellence of the interrogation and reflection about the literary phenomenon and of multiple contaminations and junctions, acknowledged in a transnational approach and in the axis of its relationships with other artistic and cultural languages. This confirmation has led to the development of several specialization areas in Comparative Studies, such as Translation Studies, Feminist Studies, Post-colonial Studies, Interarts, etc. They raise new issues about the study of the national literatures and about theory of literature itself. The aims of this 3rd cycle of studies are to conduct research works under supervision in the scientific fields of Comparative Literature, Cultural Sciences, Interarts and Theory of Literature with an innovative and original contribution for the advances in knowledge, through the development of a research project and the achievement and public discussion of a thesis.
